Why developed countries should take in more refugees Outline
Why developed countries should take in more refugees - Outline Example They have better economies to take care of the needs of refugees such as security, food, shelter, water, health care, and other needs (Bamgbose, 2008)â⬠¢Ã Developed countries have better infrastructure and refugee screening measures that would sieve out refugees who are not genuine (Lim, 2013; Wade, 2011). â⬠¢Ã Developed countries have an ethical obligation to help the less fortunate persons in developing countries (Davies, 2008)â⬠¢Ã Reducing mortality rates among the victims (Elie, 2010)â⬠¢Ã They have fledged, proven refugee policies and internal institutions (Elie, 2010)Disadvantages However, refugeesââ¬â¢ entering developed countries could cause;à â⬠¢Ã Overcrowding and poor sanitation (Elie, 2010)â⬠¢Ã Heightened insecurity due to idleness (Davies, 2008)â⬠¢Ã Developed countries taking in refugees are implementing short-term measures to the problem of refugees in the world as many people will develop a culture of dependence (Davies, 2 008; Elie, 2010)â⬠¢Ã Taking in more refugees would justify more hostilities because perpetrators would be buoyed by the fact that victims will eventually leave (Davies, 2008)â⬠¢Ã In light of this, developed countries should alleviate the problem by taking in more refugees because they are better placed to provide the basic needs whenever necessary. â⬠¢Ã Preventive measures such as peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms in unstable countries is important â⬠¢Ã Facilitating stronger governance institutions, mediation and arbitration processes are equally important.
